59 Chinese Apps Including TikTok & UC Browser Banned in India

Over the border dispute in the Ladakh area, 20 Indian soldiers were killed by China last week on 15 Jun 2020. This incident created tension between India-China. As the tension rises, China faced a lot of backlash in India. People demanded the government to take revenge for the soldiers.

TikTok, UC Browser & other Chinese apps banned in India


Even before this incident, people in India are boycotting various Chinese products, especially apps like TikTok. An application called Remove China Apps was created for this task particular which allows users to detect and remove all Chinese apps from their phones.

Later, a developer from India released a clone version of the TikTok app named Mitron. This application was also an instant hit and it got over 5M+ downloads within the few days of its release. Apart from Chinese apps, people are also boycotting Chinese smartphone companies in India.

For a long time, Indians are demanding their government to ban all popular Chinese apps because China is making a huge profit from them. It seems like the government has finally heard the voice of the people. Today, a list of 59 Chinese apps is released which are banned from India.

Some of the popular apps in this list are TikTok, UC Browser, SHAREit, WeChat, Helo, Likee, Kwai, Clash of Kings, and more. Most of them belong to the entertainment and utility apps category. These apps have a very huge number of active users in India. Some of them even have 100M+ downloads on the Google Play Store.

As from the Indian government, it is officially stated that these Chinese apps possess various security and data risks. They are engaged in activities that are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, the security of the state, and public order.

The Indian government’s official account MyGov. has also been disabled from TikTok right after this news. The account has over 1.1 million followers. Some people are previously criticizing the government for having their account on TikTok and now it’s great news for every Indian.

How to remove these Chinese apps from your phone

We have already discussed in our previous guide how you can remove Chinese apps from your phone all at once. For this task, you can use an application called Remove China Apps. This app is suspended from the Google Play Store by you can download it from the above link.

Once you have installed this app on your Android phone, open it and tap the Scan now button. The app will automatically scan your phone and show you a list of Chinese apps that are detected by it. Click the delete icon next to them and then tap Uninstall to remove them from your phone.

How to uninstall Chinese apps manually

If you are using any of the Chinese apps on your phone that is banned by the Indian government, then you should immediately uninstall it from your phone. To uninstall it manually, simply go to Settings > Apps. Then find the Chinese app you want to remove and open it. Next, click the Uninstall button followed by OK to permanently remove the app from your phone. That’s it.

It’s definitely great news for the whole country that these Chinese apps are finally banned.
